Garima Chaudhary (born April 2, 1990 in Meerut) is an Indian judoka. She represented India as the country’s sole judoka in the Women’s (63 kg) category at the 2012 London Olympics.

Born to parents hailing from a middle class family, Chaudhary was inclined to sports during her childhood. She was good at sports such as kabaddi, athletics and cricket. While Chaudhary’s father remained concerned about her education, her mother constantly supported her interest in sports. She represented her native state of Uttar Pradesh initially. Due to lack of suitable support from the state’s sports association, she began representing Haryana in national-level competitions.Sports Personalities And Infrastructure Of Uttar Pradesh

Since 2004, Chaudhary has been training with Jiwan Sharma and Divya Sharma at Patiala-based National Institute of Sports. She participated at the 2011 World Judo Championships held in Paris and at the World Cup as a part of her qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2012 Asian Judo Championships held in Tashkent, she finished seventh in the 63 kg category. As a result of her performances, she earned 34 points and the eligibility to represent India at the London Olympics. In order to prepare for the Olympics, Chaudhary trained in Germany and France. She underwent a more competition-oriented training, studied her opponents, and focused on specific fitness aspects.

In the first elimination round of the Women’s (63 kg) category at the 2012 London Olympics, Chaudhary was defeated by Yoshie Ueno by an Ippon in 81 seconds. Although this ended her challenge at the Olympics, India’s sports administrators felt that she is a good medal prospect at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the Incheon Asian Games both in 2014.

 

Annu Raj Singh (born 17 February 1984) is an Indian shooter from Aligarh. She along with Heena Sidhu won the gold medal in women’s Pairs 10 metre air pistol at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in both the 10 metre air pistol and the 25 metre pistol.

 

Jaya Sharma (born 17 September 1980 in Ghaziabad) is an Indian cricketer who has played one women’s test match and 77 women’s one-day internationals including the 2005 Women’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa.Sharma was the first female recipient of the BCCI player of the year award (2007).

Mohammad Amir Khan (born 29 December 1993) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a forward. He represented India at the 2009 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup and made his senior team debut later that year at the age of 16.

Syed Hyder Ali (born 4 August 1943, in Allahabad) is a former Indian first class cricketer who played for the Railways cricket team. In his 25-year career, he became one of the most prolific bowlers in the history of the Ranji Trophy.

 

Ankit Tiwari (born 18 September 1989) is an Indian cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2012–13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 17 March 2013.

 

PC Brahmo (born 31 May 1931) was an Indian crickete. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. He was born in Allahabad.Brahmo made his first-class debut in the 1957-58 Ranji Trophy, for Madhya Pradesh against Vidarbha. He scored consistently, making 22 and 41 not out in the two innings in which he batted.Brahmo made two further Ranji Trophy appearances, his final appearance coming in Madhya Pradesh’s losing match in the 1959-60 competition.

 

Mohammad Amir Khan (born 29 December 1993) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a forward. He represented India at the 2009 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup and made his senior team debut later that year at the age of 16.

 

Abhinn Shyam Gupta (born October 22, 1979 in Allahabad) is a male badminton player from India. Presently he lives in City of Allahabad and is a former national champion in singles. Gupta played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men’s singles, losing in the round of 32 to Park Tae-sang of Korea.Gupta received Arjuna Award for his contribution to the Indian badminton.

Abhinn is a Limca book record holder in 2004. He is the first shuttler of India who becomes national champion in all the categories viz., mini, sub-junior, junior (twice), and senior (twice).

Infrastructure Of Uttar Pradesh

Although the infrastructure condition in state is not good comparing to other advance states of India. In 2013 central government declared Chaudhry Charan Singh International Airport Lucknow and Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport Varanasi international airport. In January 2015 metro train project announced for Lucknow which is completed as of December 2016. Uttar Pradesh government bus service is one of the largest in country with more than 10,000 buses. The length of national highway and railway track is highest in Uttar Pradesh in India. A new international airport is projected in Kushinagar district. Uttar Pradesh have most number of national highways. Yamuna express way between New Delhi to Agra is one of the pioneer highway of country. In 2015 state government started another express way project between Agra to Lucknow to reduce the journey time, which is inaugurated on 21 November 2016 . At 31 December 2015 Prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an express way between New Delhi to Meerut which will cost 7500 crore₹. It will reduce one hour journey time.

Sports Infrastructure

Several schemes are being implemented by the Sports Department in Uttar Pradesh to provide opportunities to promote sports Programmes and bring about qualitative improvement in the performance of sports persons. The Sports Department is creating a wide range of infrastructural facilities in different districts of the state to meet this objective. These facilities include stadium, multi-purpose sports complex, swimming pool, badminton, tennis and volleyball court, gymnasium hall, fields for games like hockey and football, athletics track etc. As a result of these schemes, there has been considerable expansion in facilities for sports persons and availability of sports establishments.

The Sports Department works in close coordination with its associate departments, Education Department, Youth Welfare Department, autonomous sports associations and other sports organizers for training, competitions and implementation of other schemes.

Among training Programmes, there are several result-oriented schemes of sports hostels and Sports College. In order to provide benefit to maximum number of talented youth, 36 residential sports hostels are being run in stadiums in 18 districts meant for 740 sports persons in 16 sports. Players are making proper use of these facilities and bringing glory to the state and the country at national and international levels.

 

Four-lane Roads

The objective of the four lane road project is to connect all the district headquarters of the state with four lane highways. About 55 districts have already been connected with four lane highway under this ambitious project. It has been initiated to connect all the district headquarters of the state with four-lane highways in the current financial year. For this purpose a provision of Rs. 1111 crore has been made in the financial year 2016-17

CG CITY

The UP Govt. is developing a new township Chak Ganjaria (CG City) in the state capital. This mega project is being developed on 850 acres of land situated on Lucknow-Sultanpur National Highway. About 320 acres of land is proposed for setting up facilities like IT City, IIIT, UP administrative services academy, modern milk processing unit Medicity and world class cancer hospital. The remaining 530 acres have been handed over to LDA for infrastructures like roads, sewerage, residential units, commercial complexes, township and green areas etc.

 

IT CITY

The government signed an MoU with the investment arm of the HCL in June last year for setting up a 100-acre Information Technology city (IT city) in Lucknow. It would create job opportunities for 25,000 jobless youths and indirect jobs for 50000 others. The Rs. 1,500-crore IT city project, with the concept of “walk to work”, is to be developed at the Chak Ganjaria farm on Lucknow-Sultanpur Road.
